It was very windy on top especially at night. It was ok, but I think we took some pretty amazing pics with our cellphones too. We bought our picture as a keepsake for $20. Snacks and drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic) were for sale. During a break, he invited guests to come ask him questions-which my father and daughter did. While I don’t remember his name, I have a picture of him. What beautiful views of Pittsburgh! The rich history was humorously articulated by our excellent narrator. We were fortunate to get a table for 4 on the top deck. Several guests arrived after us and were scrambling to find seats together for their parties. We arrived around 6:10 and the line was already quite long, so if you want to have first dibs at the seats, plan to arrive earlier rather than later. I’m addition to visiting the zoo/aquarium, we booked a 6:30 p.m.
We drove up to Pittsburgh one Saturday morning for a Sunday afternoon Steelers game. There are plenty of fantastic restaurants in the Square that you can spend that amount of money on, or even less and then take a cruise on the river. I would recommend a cruise, but don't waste your money on a dinner. Although she was nice, she did not understand her camera and every photo was horrible. We thought it was our luck until leaving and seeing on the board that everyone's was just as bad. They did darken it and brought it back but still, an extremely over exposed photo. Ours was so incredibly washed out that you could not even tell we had faces. On the way in everyone had their picture taken by a very nice girl. They gave some information until the dance floor was cleared then played music the rest of the cruise. It was a beautiful night and the cruise itself was quite beautiful. We went above to the 3rd deck prior to launch.

Our bartender was super sweet but asked us to read what was in the drinks we ordered from their menu ( Jolly Roger was one of their "signature Cocktails), My husband ordered a "Captains Revenge" to which She apologized for not knowing the menu but had to ask 4 times how to make it and still we didn't get the right ones. The food was one of the worst dinners I have ever had. They were sweet and kind and very personable. The crew from the moment you get there was so attentive. We booked this dinner cruise for 2 and purchased a photo package ($23.00) with it for a total of $187.61. With proof of service, vets ride free and can purchase up to 8 additional tickets for half-price. This is a nice way to spend an hour and it's super-cheap if you're a veteran. In addition to the narration on the boat, there is plenty of history to be learned from the timeline murals that line the tunnel down to the dock. The weather was iffy, but it didn't actually rain until we had debarked.
The tour started up the Monongahela toward Oakland a short way, then back down to the Point and up the Allegheny towards Heinz, then back to the Ohio. So, he changed his plans and added the pointy spire as a message to the City. The architect had designed it so that the building itself was supposed to be as tall as the spire is now, but the City changed its mind and wouldn't let him build that high. Our excellent guide, Andrew, told us a funny story about the construction of the Highmark Building. It was not intended to keep boats safe but rather planes. The Grant Building is considered a lighthouse because of the light on top of it. We took the one-hour sightseeing cruise and, even though I have lived in Pittsburgh my whole life, I learned something new.
